Art & Story Episode 07 - The Big Character, Part II
October 9th, 2007In this week’s Art & Story Mark and I revisit the topic of developing characters. We try to focus on avoiding the pitfalls one may find when using archetypal characters. The Big Honor and The Big Tool segments also make their way onto the show. And hey–we have some news at the start, how about that?

Hi, I’ve been listening to the podcast for a couple of days now, and it’s definetly one of the better ones out there as far as shows aimed at comic book creator wannabes. The two episodes about characters are by far my favorites, since characters and character driven stories are my focus at the moment.
The thing that stuck in my mind was the conversation you guys had about giving th personalities flaws. It’s sounds so simple and obvious, but it’s something that sometimes get overlooked.
Overall, the show is great, and I’m going to keep listening for as long as I can.
Maybe in the future you can can have guest speakers?

Thank you kindly for the comments, Mario! We try to be as honest and helpful as we can, though we admit that we often don’t come to any solid conclusion on any subject we broach.
As for guest speakers, we’re working on getting some guests on the show in the near future. I’d also be very interested in doing some live episodes where we can let listeners in on the conversation and field some of their questions. Would you be up for that?
Hope the show continues to please!
