Today our special nemu*nemu three part story begins with Part One of Who is the Crimson Scarab? Words cannot express how excited we are to finally show this story to the world! Let me take a step back first though…
About a year ago, Jerzy contacted us to see if we were interested in doing a story for Sugary Serials. We were very flattered to be asked since we had only been doing nemu*nemu for a short time. The thought of nemu*nemu being a featured story in an anthology was always a dream for Kyubikitsy and I. The most exciting part for us was that Sugary Serials would be filled with other artists and story-tellers who were interested in telling kid friendly tales just like we were.
We quickly sat down and went through a lot of story ideas that we could possibly do. In all there were three ideas for stories, but this one, Who is the Crimson Scarab?, was the one we felt would be the most appropriate as it felt like an episiode of Scooby Doo or even the Super Friends. It was also the most challenging story to write and draw for us. It was challenging to break out of our usual 4-koma (4 panel style) comic and actually do page by page story telling. It was also a lot of fun!
We hope you enjoy our labor of love! In the coming days, I’ll be sure to write a bit more about this story and of course nemu*nemu!
