Art & Story is Alive!

February 18th, 2008

As mentioned on some previous Art & Story podcasts, Mark Rudolph and I have been toying around with doing a shorter weekly live show called Art & Story Alive. Well, today it launched! And what’s more, some Sugary Serials folks showed up to see the ship off.

This week we’re joined by Shawn Robare of Branded in the 80s, and Scott and Audra of nemu*nemu. We intended on keeping the length at a half hour, but the conversation was so good we let it roll for a full hour of comics talk. We wind up discussing incorporating techniques employed by some of our favorite artists, our own preciousness in creating comics, and the role of environment in some of our favorite comics. Artists mentioned: Jack Davis, Hayao Miyazaki, Dave Sim and Gerhard, and Gurihiru.

Note: Because this recording was made using Talkshoe, the quality isn’t quite as good as our regular Art & Story podcasts. You may have to crank the volume at certain points. We’ll work in future episodes to normalize the volume a bit.
